  1. Plan your build β€” confirm your battery voltage (12S–14S recommended for 65111), motor mount type, and propeller selection before assembly. The 65111 has a 10mm shaft β€” ensure your propeller hub matches.
  2. Mount the motor β€” secure the 65111 motor into your foil mast pod or motor mount. Route the 12AWG motor wires through the mast or board channel, away from moving parts and the propeller.
  3. Connect motor to ESC β€” connect the 3 motor phase wires to the Manatee 100 ESC phase outputs (A-B-C). Rotation direction can be reversed in VESC Tool β€” no rewiring required. Use bullet connectors or solder directly.

The battery is not included. The Manatee 100 ESC supports up to 75V (16S), but the 65111 motor is rated for a maximum of 18S. We recommend a 12S–14S LiPo or Li-ion pack with minimum 50A continuous discharge. A 13S (54.6V) pack is the most common choice for this kit. Ensure your battery has a high-current connector rated for 50A+ and a BMS capable of sustaining the discharge rate.

Q2: How does this kit differ from the 65162 + 200A ESC kit?
This 2KW kit uses the 65111 motor (2KW peak, 10mm shaft) and Manatee 100 ESC (100A continuous) β€” ideal for lighter builds, smaller boards, and riders under 80kg. The 65162 + 200A ESC kit uses a larger motor (7.2KW peak, 200A) suited for heavier riders, larger boards, and higher top speeds. Choose this 2KW kit for a lighter, more compact build; choose the 65162 kit for maximum performance.

Q3: Do I need to configure the ESC, or does it work out of the box?
The Manatee 100 ships with default VESC settings that will work for most builds, but we strongly recommend running motor auto-detection in VESC Tool before your first water session. Connect via USB, run the detection wizard for the 65111 motor, and save. This calibrates the ESC for optimal performance and protection. Contact our support team for a pre-configured setup file for the 65111 + Manatee 100 combination.

Q4: Is the motor water-cooled? What cooling does the ESC use?
The 65111 motor is IP68 waterproof and relies on natural water flow for passive cooling during operation β€” no separate cooling circuit is required for the motor. The Manatee 100 ESC uses active water cooling β€” connect the ESC cooling inlet and outlet to your board's water circuit before high-current operation. Brief low-power testing without water cooling is acceptable, but always ensure cooling is active before full-power riding.

Q5: What propeller should I use with the 65111 motor?
The 65111 has a 10mm shaft. Propeller selection depends on your target speed, board weight, and battery voltage.
