The TUNA thruster delivers up to 18.5 KGF thrust at 30A / 1430W with a fluid-optimized design for large thrust, low resistance, and low power consumption. The all-aluminum alloy anode shell, 360° large-flow water inlet, and high-thrust propeller are engineered for sustained water sport performance. 🛠️ Setup Guide

  1. Select the correct variant — choose A2-1 (Tail Fin) if your board has a standard fin box (US box, Futures, FCS); choose A2-2 (DIY Interface) for custom mounting. Select CW/CCW for standard single-thruster builds; for dual-thruster builds, order one CW and one CCW unit.
  2. Mount the thruster — for A2-1: insert the TUNA fin into your board's fin box and secure with the fin pin. For A2-2: attach the DIY mounting bracket to your board using the provided interface and secure firmly. Ensure the thruster is fully seated and the propeller has clear water flow with no obstructions.
  3. Connect the battery — align the FD13S5P battery's quick self-locking plug with the thruster's 50A waterproof power plug. Push and rotate to lock — the connection is secure when fully engaged. Do not force-pull without unlocking the self-locking mechanism.
  4. Connect the VX3 receiver — connect the VX3 receiver's signal cable to the thruster's 11AWG signal cable (White = signal, Red = power, Black = ground). The thruster's ESC powers the receiver directly — no separate BEC is required. 
  5. Power on sequence — power on the VX3 remote first, then connect the battery to the thruster. Verify the VX3 display shows receiver connection. Move the throttle trigger slowly to confirm the thruster responds correctly at low speed before entering the water.
  6. Water test at low power — start at 20–30% throttle in calm, shallow water. Verify smooth thruster operation, check for vibration or unusual noise, and confirm the propeller rotates in the correct direction (pushing the board forward). Increase to full power only after confirming correct operation.
  7. Charging the battery — connect the 54.6V / 5A fast charger to the FD13S5P battery's charging port. Full charge from empty takes approximately 3.5 hours. The battery's contact charging interface is fully waterproof — rinse with fresh water after saltwater use before charging.Please note that you should not drain the battery to 100% to avoid damaging it.

Q1: What is the difference between the A2-1 (Tail Fin) and A2-2 (DIY Interface) variants?
The A2-1 (Tail Fin) version uses a standard fin-box interface — it installs directly into your board's existing fin box (Please refer to and compare the tail fin version; if you are unsure whether it is compatible with the fin box, please contact us.) like a regular surfboard fin. No drilling or modification required. The A2-2 (DIY Interface) version has a custom mounting interface for boards without a standard fin box, or for custom mounting positions. Choose A2-1 for standard boards; choose A2-2 for custom builds or boards without fin boxes.

Q2: How do I choose between CW and CCW propeller rotation?
For a single-thruster build, either CW or CCW will work — the propeller direction determines which way the thruster pushes. For dual-thruster builds (two thrusters side by side), use one CW and one CCW unit to cancel out rotational torque and maintain straight tracking. 

Q3: How long does the 20Ah battery last per charge?
The FD13S5P 20Ah / 936Wh battery provides approximately 60–90 minutes of riding at moderate throttle (15–20A / 700–950W). At full throttle (30A / 1430W), runtime is approximately 40 minutes. Actual runtime depends on rider weight, board type, water conditions, and throttle usage. The battery charges fully in 3.5 hours with the included 54.6V / 5A fast charger.

Q4: Is the battery truly waterproof? Can I submerge it?
Yes — the FD13S5P battery is rated fully waterproof to 5 meters depth. It is designed for water sport use and can be submerged during normal SUP, surfboard, and kayak operation. The quick self-locking power plug is also waterproof — ensure it is fully locked before entering the water.If the power connector accidentally comes into contact with seawater, rinse the battery charging port with fresh water before charging to prevent corrosion.

Q5: Can I use the TUNA thruster with my existing battery and remote instead of the PRO KIT?
Yes — the TUNA thruster accepts any 10S–14S battery (36V–58.8V) with a 50A+ continuous discharge rating via the included waterproof power plug. It also accepts PPM/PWM remote via the signal cable. If you already have a compatible battery and remote, purchase the TUNA TT160 Thrust System standalone or the TUNA + VX3 Kit (without battery) instead of the full PRO KIT.
