🛠️ Setup Guide (Quick Start)

  1. Identify your ESC version — Check if your ESC uses a V4 (7-pin) or V6 (8-pin) UART port. The FD2.4 includes both JST-PH2.0 adapter cables — use the correct one for your ESC.
  2. Check supply voltage — V4 ESCs typically output 5V on the UART port; V6 ESCs output 3.3V. The FD2.4 VCC pin must match your ESC's output voltage. Incorrect voltage may cause the module to malfunction or be damaged.
  3. Connect the module — Plug the appropriate JST cable into your ESC's UART port. The wiring is cross-connected: ESC RX → FD2.4 TX, ESC TX → FD2.4 RX. The included cables are pre-wired correctly — do not swap TX/RX if using the included cable.
  4. Power on the ESC — The FD2.4 draws power from the ESC UART port. No separate power supply needed. The module LED should illuminate when powered.
  5. Download VESC Tool — Install the free VESC Tool app on your Android or iOS device. Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
  6. Connect wirelessly — Open VESC Tool → tap the Bluetooth icon → search for "VESC 52832 UART" → tap to connect. The app will display real-time telemetry once connected.
  7. Configure your ESC — Use VESC Tool to run motor detection, adjust current limits, throttle curves, and protection settings. All changes are saved directly to the ESC over Bluetooth. OTA firmware updates can also be performed from the app.

❓ FAQ

Q1: Is this module compatible with the Firduo FD75200 ESCs?
Yes. Both the FD75200 are VESC-compatible and support UART Bluetooth modules. Connect via the UART port using the appropriate JST-PH2.0 cable (V4 7P or V6 8P). Once connected, VESC Tool will recognize the ESC and allow full wireless configuration and monitoring.

Q2: What is the difference between V4 and V6, and which cable do I use?
VESC V4 hardware uses a 7-pin JST-PH2.0 UART connector and outputs 5V. VESC V6 hardware uses an 8-pin JST-PH2.0 connector and outputs 3.3V. The FD2.4 includes both cables — use the 7P cable for V4 ESCs and the 8P cable for V6 ESCs. If unsure, check your ESC documentation or count the pins on the UART port.

Q3: Can I update ESC firmware wirelessly with this module?
Yes. The FD2.4 supports OTA (over-the-air) firmware updates via VESC Tool. Navigate to the Firmware section in VESC Tool, select your firmware file, and upload wirelessly. Note: for major firmware version changes, a wired USB connection may be more reliable to avoid interruption during the update process.

Q4: What real-time data can I monitor through the app?
VESC Tool displays live telemetry including: battery voltage, motor current (phase and input), ESC temperature, motor temperature (if sensor fitted), ERPM, duty cycle, amp-hours consumed, and watt-hours consumed. This data is invaluable for diagnosing issues and optimizing your build's performance.

Q5: The app can't find "VESC 52832 UART" — what should I check?
First, confirm the ESC is powered on and the FD2.4 LED is lit. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and you're within 5–10 meters of the module. In VESC Tool, tap the Bluetooth scan button and wait 10–15 seconds. If still not found: (1) verify the UART wiring is correct (TX/RX cross-connected), (2) confirm VCC voltage matches your ESC output, (3) try restarting the ESC. Contact support@firduo.com if the issue persists.
