With a 12N/4P internal structure, long threaded shaft (Φ10mm), and 18.3 KGF of thrust at 48V/30A, the 56115 delivers exceptional thrust-to-weight performance in a compact 1.5kg package.

Available in two variants: Motor only for builders with existing propellers, and Motor + Propeller for a complete drive unit ready to install. The 3×12AWG phase leads with 4.5mm connectors and 4mm banana plug shaft interface make integration straightforward with any compatible ESC.

🛠️ Setup Guide

  1. Select your variant — choose Motor only if you have an existing propeller; choose Motor + Propeller for a complete drive unit. Verify your propeller hub matches the Φ10mm shaft before ordering.
  2. Mount the motor — secure the 56115 into your motor mount, thruster housing, or mast pod. The long threaded shaft allows direct propeller attachment. Route the 3×12AWG phase leads away from the propeller arc and any moving parts.
  3. Connect motor to ESC — plug the 3× 4mm phase connectors into your ESC phase outputs (A-B-C). Rotation direction can be corrected in VESC Tool or by swapping any two phase wires — no motor rewiring required.
  4. Connect ESC to battery — use a high-current connector rated for 60A+ (Firduo 120A–250A waterproof connector recommended). Verify battery voltage is within 25.2–58.8V (6S–14S). Use an anti-spark switch or pre-charge resistor to prevent connector arcing.
  5. Connect remote receiver to ESC — for UART mode (VESC ESC): connect receiver TX→ESC RX, RX→ESC TX, power from ESC 5V BEC. For PPM mode: connect signal wire to ESC PPM input. UART mode enables full telemetry on the VX3 display.
  6. Configure ESC via VESC Tool — connect via USB, run motor auto-detection wizard for the 56115, set current limits (30A rated / 60A max), configure throttle curve, and set protection thresholds. Contact our support team for a pre-configured setup file.
  7. Water test at low power — start at 10–20A in calm water. Verify smooth operation, check for vibration or unusual noise, and confirm all connections are sealed before increasing to full power.

❓ FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between the 56115 and the 65111/65162 motors?
The 56115 (56mm diameter, 115mm length) is a more compact, lighter motor (1.5kg) suited for smaller builds, lighter boards, and applications where size and weight are critical — such as ROV, AUV, and compact eFoil builds. The 65111 (65mm diameter) offers 2KW peak in a slightly larger package, and the 65162 (65mm, 162mm length) delivers 7.2KW for high-performance eFoil and heavy-rider builds. Choose 56115 for compact/lightweight; choose 65111 or 65162 for higher power.

Q2: Is the 56115 compatible with the TUNA thruster steady?
The TUNA A1 and A2 thruster systems use a motor with a similar shaft specification.  However, the TUNA housing is designed around a specific motor OD (65mm).Additionally, the mounting holes do not match, so they are incompatible.

Q3: What ESC do I need for the 56115?
You need an ESC rated for at least 30A continuous at 6S–14S (25.2–58.8V). Any VESC-compatible ESC in this range will work. The Firduo Manatee 100 PRO 75V 100A VESC is a proven pairing — it provides headroom above the 56115's 60A max current and full VESC Tool configurability. For simpler builds, any hobby-grade ESC rated for the voltage and current will work.

Q4: Is the motor truly IP68? Can I run it continuously underwater?
Yes. The 56115 is rated IP68 — fully sealed for continuous underwater operation in both fresh and saltwater. The motor relies on natural water flow for passive cooling during operation. Avoid running the motor out of water for extended periods at high power, as the passive cooling depends on water flow. Brief out-of-water testing at low power is acceptable for connection verification. After saltwater use, rinse with fresh water to remove salt residue.

Q5: What propeller should I use, and what does the Motor + Propeller variant include?
The Motor + Propeller variant includes a matched propeller optimized for the 56115's thrust curve at 48V. The propeller hub is designed for the Φ10mm threaded shaft. If you select the Motor only variant, ensure your propeller hub matches the Φ10mm shaft diameter and thread specification. For custom builds, contact us with your target voltage, current, and application (eFoil, thruster, ROV) and we'll recommend the optimal propeller pitch and diameter.
