  1. Select your variant β€” choose your mounting model (A2-1 for universal fin box; A2-2 for DIY/custom mount) and propeller rotation (CW or CCW). When viewed from behind the board, CW rotates clockwise. Single drive, with the option to freely choose between CW and CCW.If dual drive is required, please select both CW and CCW.
  2. Mount the thruster β€” insert the TUNA into your board's fin box or attach via the DIY interface. Secure with the provided hardware. Ensure the propeller has clear water flow and the power/signal cables are routed safely away from the propeller.
  3. Connect the power cable β€” plug the 50A waterproof power connector into your battery output. Verify battery voltage is within 36–58.8V (10S–14S) before connecting. Use a battery with at least 30A continuous discharge rating.
  4. Connect the signal cable β€” plug the 3-wire signal cable (black βˆ’, red +, white signal) into your remote receiver's PPM or PWM output channel. The TUNA's built-in ESC accepts standard PPM/PWM signals β€” no additional ESC configuration required.
  5. Pair your remote β€” power on the system (battery first, then remote). Follow your remote's pairing procedure. The Firduo VX3 pairs automatically on first power-on.
  6. Water test at low power β€” start at 10–15A (500–750W) in calm water. Verify smooth operation and check all connections are secure and dry before increasing to full power.

❓ FAQ

Q1: What's the difference between TT160-A2-1 and TT160-A2-2?
The two models differ in their mounting interface. TT160-A2-1 uses a universal fin box interface compatible with standard SUP and surfboard fin boxes β€” the easiest option for most boards. TT160-A2-2 uses a DIY custom interface for non-standard mounts, kayak transoms, or custom hull installations. Both deliver identical thrust performance. If you have a standard fin box on your board, choose A2-1.

Q2: CW or CCW β€” which rotation do I need?
When viewed from behind the board (water-facing side), CW rotates clockwise and CCW rotates counter-clockwise. Single drive, with the option to freely choose between CW and CCW. If you're building a twin-thruster setup, use one CW and one CCW for balanced thrust. If unsure, contact us with your board specs and we'll advise.

Q3: Do I need a separate ESC? What remote is compatible?
No β€” the TUNA includes a fully integrated waterproof ESC. You only need a battery and a PPM/PWM remote receiver. The system is compatible with any standard RC remote that outputs PPM or PWM signals. We recommend the Firduo VX3 Waterproof Remote for a plug-and-play waterproof solution.

Q4: What battery do I need?
The TUNA supports 10S–14S (36–58.8V) battery packs. For full-power operation at 18.5 KGF, a 13S or 14S LiPo or Li-ion pack with minimum 30A continuous discharge is recommended. A 10S–12S pack will work at reduced thrust. Do not exceed 14S (58.8V) to avoid damaging the built-in ESC. Battery is not included.

Q5: Can I use the TUNA for an ROV, AUV, or non-board application?
Yes. The TUNA's integrated waterproof motor and ESC, combined with standard PPM/PWM signal input, make it suitable for ROV, AUV, USV, and other autonomous or remotely operated marine applications.
