The Firduo VX3 is a professional-grade IP67 waterproof remote controller designed for eFoil, electric surfboard, RC boat, and electric skateboard applications. With a 1.6-inch high-resolution display showing real-time GPS, motor power, MOS temperature, and throttle progress, the VX3 gives you complete situational awareness on the water.
Supporting both UART and PPM/PWM control modes, the VX3 is compatible with VESC-based and non-VESC ESCs alike. The 1500mAh battery with wireless charging, cruise control in E-surf mode, and ESC failure reporting make it the most feature-complete remote in its class. Receiver included.

Q1: What's the difference between UART and PPM/PWM mode, and which should I use?
UART mode is a digital communication protocol that provides full two-way communication between the VX3 and your ESC β enabling real-time display of motor power, MOS temperature, GPS, and ESC fault codes on the VX3 screen. It requires a VESC-compatible ESC with a UART port. PPM/PWM mode is a standard analog RC signal β simpler to set up and compatible with any ESC that accepts PPM input, but provides no telemetry data on the display. Use UART if you have a VESC ESC; use PPM for everything else.
Q2: Is the VX3 truly IP67 waterproof? Can I drop it in the water?
Yes. The VX3 is rated IP67 β protected against immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes under standard testing conditions. Firduo's own test confirmed ~50 minutes at 50cm depth. The wireless charging system means there are no exposed charging ports that could leak. After saltwater use, always rinse with fresh water or soak for at least 1 minute to remove salt residue and protect the seals long-term.
Q3: Does the VX3 work with non-VESC ESCs?
Yes. In PPM/PWM mode, the VX3 works with any ESC that accepts a standard PPM or PWM signal input β including hobby ESCs, proprietary ESCs, and the Firduo TUNA A2 built-in ESC. In this mode, the display will show basic information but not full VESC telemetry. For full display functionality (motor power, temperature, GPS), a VESC-compatible ESC with UART output is required.
Q4: What is cruise control and how does it work in E-surf mode?
Cruise control in E-surf mode allows you to lock the throttle at your current speed without holding the trigger. Once activated, the ESC maintains the set power output until you squeeze the trigger again or release cruise. This is particularly useful for long eFoil sessions where sustained speed is desired without hand fatigue. Cruise control is only available in E-surf mode β not in ESK8 mode.
Q5: The display shows an ESC failure alert β what does this mean?
The VX3's ESC failure reporting feature (available in UART mode with VESC ESCs) monitors the ESC's internal fault codes in real time. If the ESC detects an over-temperature, over-current, low-voltage, or other fault condition, the VX3 display will show an alert. This allows you to stop and investigate before a minor issue becomes a major failure. Common causes include: battery voltage too low, motor current limit exceeded, or ESC overheating. Check your VESC Tool fault log for details after receiving an alert.
