🛠️ Setup Guide

1. Choose your style — select Motor if you already have waterproof connectors; select Motor×1+Connector×3 for a complete ready-to-wire bundle including 3× Firduo 120A waterproof connectors.
2. Mount the motor — secure into your foil mast pod or motor mount using the standard M5 screws. Align the motor shaft with your propeller axis. Route the 1300mm lead wires through the mast or board channel, away from moving parts.
3. Connect to ESC — plug the 3× 8.0mm gold bullet connectors into your ESC phase outputs (A-B-C). Use the Firduo 120A Waterproof Connector for a sealed, high-current connection. Rotation direction can be reversed in VESC Tool if needed — no rewiring required.
4. Connect ESC to battery — use a high-current connector rated for 200A+ (AS150, XT150, or equivalent). Verify battery voltage is within 40–80V before connecting.
5. Run motor detection in VESC Tool — connect the FD75200 ESC via USB and run the motor auto-detection wizard. This calibrates the ESC to the exact motor parameters for optimal performance and protection. Our support team can provide a pre-configured file for the 65162 + FD75200 combination on request.
6. Install propeller — mount your propeller (CW or CCW as required) onto the motor shaft. Torque the prop nut to spec and secure with thread-lock compound.
7. Water test at low power — start at 20–30% throttle in calm water. Verify smooth operation, check for vibration or unusual noise, and confirm all connections are dry before increasing power.

Q1: Why is this motor rated 120KV, and is it the right choice for my eFoil?
KV=RPM/V,with the same voltage, a lower KV value, and lower RPM, it has stronger torque and is suitable for propellers with heavy loads.. At 12S–16S (50–67V), this produces strong low-end torque ideal for eFoil liftoff and efficient cruising. The 65162 120KV is the most popular choice for direct-drive eFoil and hydrofoil builds. If you need higher RPM for a different application, contact us and we’ll advise the best configuration.

Q2: Is the motor truly IP68 waterproof? Can I use it in saltwater?
Yes. The 65162 is rated IP68 — fully sealed for continuous underwater operation in both freshwater and saltwater. The stator, windings, and bearings are all sealed against water ingress. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use and inspect the shaft seal periodically to extend service life.

Q3: What ESC do I need, and is the FD75200 the right choice?
The 65162 requires an ESC capable of handling up to 200A peak current at 40–80V. Q5: What propeller should I use, and is it included?
The propeller is not included. The 65162 uses a standard shaft with a threads, compatible with most eFoil and hydrofoil propellers designed for 65mm motors. For eFoil use, a 3-blade folding propeller (140–165mm diameter) is commonly used.
