Q1: What is the difference between the "Motor" and "Motor + Propeller" variants?
The "Motor" variant includes only the 6384 motor with pre-installed phase wires. The "Motor + Propeller" variant adds a matched 140Γ120mm 2-blade propeller designed for the Ξ¦10mm long-thread shaft. If you already have a compatible propeller or are using a custom prop, choose the Motor-only variant.
Q2: What ESC is recommended for this motor?
The Firduo Manatee 100 Pro (75V 100A VESC-based ESC) is the recommended pairing. It supports FOC mode, handles up to 100A continuous (150A peak), and covers the full 6Sβ16S voltage range of this motor. For higher-power builds at 16S, ensure your ESC is rated for the voltage.
Q3: Is IP58 sufficient for eFoil / continuous underwater use?
Yes. IP58 means the motor is rated for continuous submersion beyond 1 meter depth β suitable for eFoil, underwater thrusters, and ROV applications. The ceramic bearings are specifically chosen for corrosion resistance in both fresh and salt water. Rinse with fresh water after salt water use to extend bearing life.
Q4: What battery voltage gives the best performance?
For most eFoil and thruster builds, 12Sβ14S (44β52V) is the optimal range β this puts the motor in its peak efficiency band (see characteristic curves above). At 16S (60V) you get maximum power but higher heat; at 6Sβ8S the motor is underpowered for eFoil use. The characteristic curves at 36V and 48V are shown in the spec section above.
Q5: Can I use this motor for a dual-thruster setup?
Yes. Two 6384 motors can be run from separate ESCs connected via CAN bus (if using VESC-based ESCs) for synchronized dual-motor control. Each motor draws up to 88A peak, so ensure your battery and wiring are rated for the combined current. A dual setup is common in twin-thruster kayak and USV builds.
