πŸ”— Compatible Builds & Recommended Pairings

  • eFoil / Electric Surfboard/ThrusterΒ β€” use 24A-1Core for motor phase signal lines or sensor connections; For example: TUNA underwater thruster.10A-2Core for BMS signal wiring
  • ROV / AUV / Underwater Robot β€” IP68 rated for continuous submersion; ideal for thruster signal and power distribution penetrations
  • eBike / Electric Scooter β€” waterproof battery-to-controller signal connections, brake sensor wiring
  • Marine / Boat Wiring β€” navigation lights, bilge pump controls, sensor feeds in salt water environments
  • Outdoor / Industrial β€” street lighting, solar installations, control panel signal wiring
  • Pair with: Firduo 120A High-Current Waterproof Connector β€” for motor phase power connections
  • Pair with: Firduo IP68 Cable Gland Connectorβ€” for cable penetration sealing

πŸ› οΈ Setup Guide (Quick Start)

  1. Select the correct variant β€” Use 10A-2Core for two-wire signal or low-power connections (e.g. remote receiver, sensor, BMS signal). Use 24A-1Core for single high-current lines up to 24A. The Γ—3 bundle variants provide 3 connector sets for multi-connection builds.
  2. Prepare your cables β€” Strip 4–5mm of insulation from each wire end. Ensure cable outer diameter is within 4–6.5mm β€” cables outside this range will not seal correctly in the rubber gland.
  3. Thread cable through connector body first β€” Before soldering, slide the rubber seal gland and connector body over the cable. This step is easy to forget and cannot be done after soldering.
  4. Solder wires to contacts β€” Tin the wire ends and contact pins. Flow solder into the contact cup briefly. Avoid excess solder bridging adjacent pins (especially on the 2-core variant). Allow to cool fully before assembly.
  5. Seat the contact assembly β€” Push the soldered contact assembly into the connector body until it clicks into position.
  6. Tighten the locking nut β€” Rotate the nut clockwise to compress the rubber seal around the cable. Hand-tighten firmly β€” the seal should grip the cable without deforming it.
  7. Mate and test β€” Align plug and socket (anti-misfit keying ensures correct orientation), push together, and rotate the locking nut clockwise until secure. For eFoil/ROV use, submerge the mated pair for 30 minutes to verify the seal before full deployment. To disconnect: rotate nut counter-clockwise and pull apart.

❓ FAQ

Q1: Which variant should I choose β€” 10A-2Core or 24A-1Core?
Choose 10A-2Core for two-wire signal or low-power circuits (e.g. remote receiver power + signal, BMS communication, sensor pairs). Choose 24A-1Core for a single high-current connection up to 24A (e.g. individual motor phase signal lines, single-wire power feeds). For motor phase power connections above 24A, use theΒ 120A Waterproof ConnectorΒ instead.

Q2: What cable sizes are compatible?
The FD05 accepts cables with an outer diameter of 4–6.5mm. This covers most signal and light power cables. For reference: 12AWG silicone wire is ~4.5mm OD. Cables outside the 4–6.5mm range will not seal correctly and the IP68 rating will not be achieved.

Q3: Is IP68 maintained after repeated mating cycles?
Yes, within the rated 500 mating cycles and provided the rubber seal is undamaged. After each disconnection, inspect the seal gland for cuts or debris before re-mating. Rinse with fresh water after salt water use. Replace the connector set if the seal shows wear or the lock no longer holds firmly.

Q4: Can I use this connector for salt water / marine applications?
Yes. The PA66 body and gold-plated T2J copper contacts are corrosion-resistant and rated for salt water environments. Always rinse with fresh water after salt water exposure and inspect contacts periodically. The gold plating significantly extends contact life vs. bare copper or tin-plated alternatives.

Q5: The connector feels loose after mating β€” what should I check?
Verify the locking nut is fully tightened clockwise β€” firm, not just finger-tight. If the nut has already been tightened, check that the cable OD is within 4–6.5mm (undersized cables can cause ineffective sealing). Confirm the contact assembly is fully seated (should click into place). If threads are damaged, replace the connector set β€” never use a connector with compromised threads in a waterproof application.
