The Firduo TUNA TT160-A2 + VX3 Kit is a complete, integrated electric fin propulsion system for SUP boards, surfboards, paddle boards, and kayaks. Combining the TUNA TT160-A2 thrust system (built-in waterproof motor + waterproof ESC) with the VX3 IP67 waterproof remote, this kit delivers up to 18.5 KGF of thrust at 1500W with a fluid-optimized design for maximum efficiency and minimum drag. Simply add your 10–14S battery and Waterproof details(Waterproof connector/power plug) — everything else is included and pre-integrated.

🛠️ Setup Guide (Quick Start)

1. Choose your variant — Select A2-1 (tail fin version) or A2-2 (DIY version) based on your board's mount type.When viewed from behind the board, CW rotates clockwise. Single drive, with the option to freely choose between CW and CCW.If dual drive is required, please select both CW and CCW.
2. Mount the thruster — For the tail fin version (A2-1): slide into your board's standard fin box and secure with the fin pin. For the DIY version (A2-2): attach to your custom mount using the multi-functional installation module. Ensure the thruster is fully submerged when the board is in the water.
3. Connect the power cable — It is recommended to use a power plug and socket rated at 50A or higher to connect the battery. The power cable is 110cm — route it cleanly along the board to avoid drag. Observe polarity: red = positive, black = negative.
4. Connect the signal cable — Plug the PPM/PWM signal cable into the VX3 receiver output. Pin assignment: black = GND (−), red = VCC (+), white = signal. Ensure the receiver is paired to the VX3 remote before connecting.
5. Select ride mode — On the VX3, switch to eSurf mode for water use. This enables  optimizes throttle response for SUP/kayak propulsion. ESK8 mode is for land-based applications.
6. Water test — Start at low throttle (10A / 500W) in calm water. Verify thrust direction — the board should move forward. Gradually increase throttle. Check all connections are dry and secure before full-power runs.

❓ FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between the A2-1 and A2-2 variants, and CW vs CCW?
The A2-1 is the tail fin version — it uses a standard fin box interface and installs like a regular surfboard fin. The A2-2 is the DIY version with a custom mount interface for non-standard boards or kayaks. For propeller direction: CW (clockwise) and CCW (counter-clockwise) refer to the propeller rotation when viewed from behind. Single drive, with the option to freely choose between CW and CCW.If dual drive is required, please select both CW and CCW.

Q2: Do I need to configure the ESC or install any software?
No. The TUNA TT160-A2 has a fully integrated, pre-configured ESC. There is no VESC Tool setup, motor detection, or parameter tuning required. Simply connect your battery and PPM/PWM remote signal — the system is ready to use out of the box. This makes it ideal for builders who want a plug-and-ride solution without technical ESC configuration.

Q3: What battery do I need, and what connector is required?
The system supports 10–14S (36–58.8V). For SUP and kayak use, a 12S–13S LiPo or Li-ion pack with minimum 30A continuous discharge is recommended. Ensure your battery has a matching waterproof connector. Battery is not included.

Q4: Is the VX3 remote waterproof? Can I drop it in the water?
Yes. The VX3 is rated IP67 — it can be submerged to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. It is designed for water sports use and will survive splashes, rain, and brief submersion. The wireless charging port is sealed, so there are no exposed charging ports to worry about. Rinse with fresh water after salt water use.

Q5: Can I use this kit with my own remote instead of the VX3?
Yes. The TUNA TT160-A2 accepts  standard PPM/PWM signal, so it is compatible with most RC receivers and remotes. The VX3 is included in this kit for convenience, but if you already have a compatible PPM remote, you can use it instead. Please note that a waterproof remote control is recommended for water sports.
